What is peptide reconstitution?

Reconstitution is adding bacteriostatic water (BAC water) to a freeze-dried peptide vial. The powder dissolves into a liquid you can draw with a syringe. The amount of water you add determines the concentration.

How much BAC water should I add?

The short version: it depends on your vial size. More water = weaker solution = larger draws. Less water = stronger = smaller draws. Most people use 1mL or 2mL. Try the calculator above to see the difference.

Can I use sterile water instead of BAC water?

You can, but BAC water is preferred. It contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which prevents bacteria. Sterile water has no preservative. You'd need to use the entire vial within 24 hours.

How long does a reconstituted peptide last?

Most reconstituted peptides last 4-6 weeks in the refrigerator when mixed with BAC water. Keep the vial upright, away from light, and between 2-8°C (36-46°F). Don't freeze reconstituted peptides.

What does concentration mean?

Concentration tells you how many mcg of peptide are in each mL of liquid. Add 2mL BAC water to a 10mg vial and you get 5,000 mcg/mL. That number sets how many units to draw for a given dose.

Step-by-Step Reconstitution Guide

1 Gather supplies: peptide vial, bacteriostatic water, alcohol swabs, and an insulin syringe.
2 Swab the tops of both the peptide vial and BAC water vial with alcohol.
3 Draw the desired amount of BAC water into your syringe.
4 Insert the needle at an angle. Let the water flow down the side of the vial. Never squirt directly onto the powder.
5 Gently swirl (don't shake) the vial until the powder is fully dissolved.
6 Store the reconstituted vial in the refrigerator. Most peptides stay stable for 4-6 weeks once reconstituted.
